Jet Back to Aussie-Land
One of the things I love about living in Austin, is the sort-of daily interaction with the music industry. I wait tables at a popular Austin eatery, where I see politicians, painters, lawyers, musicians etc. Well apparently the group of young gentlemen with the down-under accents eating the Hippie Burgers, we've seen lately, is Australian rock-band, Jet. They have been in South Austin the last few weeks working at Wire Recording studio.
Don't go camping out at the studio just yet, because the band has left Austin for now. But expect them back again soon, when it's time to promote whatever they were working on.
Find a little reminder of who Jet is after the jump...

TVOTR New Record + Tour
Brooklyn's TV on the Radio have a new single available for purchase on iTunes right now. It's called Golden Age and you can stream it here, if you wish. I have yet to see TVOTR in concert but it looks like I'll have my chance right before Halloween here in Austin.
If you want to here the off-the-wall, experimental, rock 'n roll sounds of TV on the Radio check out their tour page. Or buy one of their records. Personally I liked Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes a little better than Return to Cookie Mt but they are both good.
The latest TV on the Radio record will be out September 23rd on Interscope Records. It will be entitled, Dear Science and I HIGHLY suspect it will leak much earlier than the 23rd so keep an eye on your fav BitTorrent site you illegal eagle.
Video and more after the jump...
This isn't a real video, it's one of those YouTube promo but you can hear a 2-minute snippet of Golden Age in all of its Disco glory.

This is a video for the first TVOTR that caught my attention back in 2001ish:

I'm not confident that this is an OFFICIAL video but I do love this song from Return to Cookie Mt.:

The Wu-Genius @ Emo's
It's Emo's 16th birthday...week(?) so they are having a bunch of celebratory shows. Tomorrow night you can catch GZA performing his 13yo album Liquid Swords. To be honest I don't really know why he is performing an old album when he just released a new record, appropriately titled, Pro Tools. Perhaps he will run through Liquid Swords THEN bust out some new hits, and of course some Wu-Tang classics.
If you're up for some more stellar hip-hop at Emo's you can still get tix.
