So, they re-opened the guest list for the Fader Fort. I suggest, if you haven't done so already, that you RSVP before you do anything else!
I must confess, I'm pretty much biased to love the Fader Fort party because last year during the "Levi's 501 Happy Hour" I won a pretty easy trivia contest earning myself:
Free Levi's 'Lowers' (ie. pants, shorts, skirts etc.)
Free Levi's 'Uppers' (ie. denim meth, cotton crack, diet pills)
Free Ray Bans (<---This was the only thing chosen for me, the other stuff I got to like...pick out myself.)
AND
Free Pumas
SXSW is the time of year when it's ok to take freely from corporate America. I know what you're saying, "Hey, hasn't Corporate America given us so much already this year?" Well dear reader, the answer is yes, yes they have but something tells me there's still going to be an a**load of free shhh at South By this year.
For the record the question was, "Who won the first 'Hip-Hop/Rap' Grammy?"
Here's some free videos from some of the artists you can expect to hear for about 30 minutes at the Fader Fort:
Little Boots - Meddle video via YouTube
the Warlocks - So Paranoid video via YouTube
So, one of the bands featured on Friday Features: Taylor Hanson, James Iha, Adam Schlesinger, and Bun E. Carlos? Check out Tinted Window. I'm intrigued and am willing to withhold judgement, at least I think I am and I'm pretty sure I will. Something to keep in mind on Friday nonetheless.
the Strange Boys - Happily in Disbelief video via YouTube
Major Lazer is a collaboration project with DJ's Diplo and Switch. They are playing a Red Bull party, which you can RSVP to with an e-mail to Rsvp@uk.redbull.com, as well as the Fader Fort and I'm sure many others.
Major Lazer - Zombie? video via YouTube
The answer to the aforementioned trivia contest was DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince.

Short, Sweet, Semi-Exclusive
Just noticed on the Twitter for Plus One Music that Kenan Bell is confirmed for the Rock the Rabbit party. Well there's one artist we know of so far.
Kenan has a new single you can check out on iTunes now and/or you can check out his remix of Peter, Bjorn, and John, which I pointed to yesterday. Be forewarned though, that mp3 is behind a Zshare barrier, be prepared to be patient/frustrated before you can actually download the track.
So now we know one artist playing the RTR party, but we still don't know where it will be or who else is playing. But stay tuned dear reader, for I will be there, which means you too will be there...in spirit.
Here's a little Playboy related content from Chromeo for you:

Aquarium Drunkard Party Tomorrow
Did I mention that one of my favorite bloggers is coming to town a bit early? Actually like every music blogger is coming to town, but I'm talking about Aquarium Drunkard. Tomorrow night as a way to launch SXSW Interactive you can catch Black Joe Lewis & the Honey Bears, White Denim and American Princes at Red Eyed Fly all for FREE!
Well free, with an RSVP.
It almost seems unnecessary but find video from these artists after the jump...
American Princes - Never Grow Old video via YouTube
Just for the record Black Joe Lewis is one of my favorite Austin artists and it's hard to find decent video for him, you hear that Lost Highway Records? But man does this song jam!! Buy Black Joe's album...like now.
Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears - Sugarfoot video via YouTube
I'm not sure but I bet White Denim are really sick of playing most of these songs by now. Seems like the Let's Talk About It EP came out like 2 years ago now. But if you STILL haven't seen or heard them live or on record...where have you been?

Psych Fest and Such
With SXSW underway already and the music part of the festival less than a week away it's easy to forget there is still a TON of other stuff going on between today and Wednesday. So much so, in fact, that I have pretty much given up on the idea of telling you about all the cool shhh you could do. I'll tell you about some stuff, don't worry, but you're pretty much on your own to comb through ShowListAustin and Do512 when next week rolls around.
Free Mp3 courtesy of Transmission Entertainment, thanks.
Free Mp3 ---> the Black Angels - Empire
ANYWAY, back to Psych Fest...
Tickets for Psych Fest are still available, but only at the door...so disregard that link :-). I didn't go last year but I know this year has a lot of the same "Psychedelic(Drony)" artists. So you should probably be on drugs if you truly want to have a good time. Sorry Straight-Edge kids, but seriously what are you doing at Psych Fest anyway?
Just for the record I'm totally lifting the listing for this fest directly from ShowListAustin, hence the Blockquoting/alt format.
Fri:
Psych Fest 2 with The Black Angels (11:30pm), The Golden Dawn (performing their Power Plant album, 10:45pm), Lower Heaven (9:45pm), Woven Bones (9pm) at Radio Room (508 E. 6th St.)
Sat:
Psych Fest 2 with Sky Sunlight Saxon of The Seeds (backed by Shapes have Fangs, 12:15am), Dead Meadow (11pm), The Wooden Shjips (10pm), Golden Animals (9pm), Indian Jewelry (8pm), Daughters of the Sun (7pm), Shapes Have Fangs (6pm), The Shine Brothers (5pm), Astronaut Suit (4pm), The Tunnels (3pm), Smoke and Feathers (2pm), PJ and the Bear (1pm) at Radio Room (508 E. 6th St.)

Never Too Late For Adele
Adele - Right as Rain video via YouTube
Adele is so popular in England, you can watch her on the RADIO (see above). She is also playing a SOLD-OUT gig at La Zone Rosa tonight, here in Austin. Bummer that's it's sold-out right? Not necessarily, don't forget that La Zona has the handy-dandy Backstage Bar open 7 nights a week. Sure you're not AT the show but maybe the sound will bleed, or maybe you can buy Adele a shot before she takes the stage. That's always fun right?
More video after the jump...
Adele - Chasing Pavements video via YouTube
Oh yeah did I mention she's a recent Grammy winner? I'm not sure if that makes you more or less credible these days? It's hard to keep track.

+1 House Party Y'all
The only thing better than a house party is a house party with kick ass music. The only thing better than THAT is a house party with kick ass LIVE music from up-and-coming artists. Well you're in luck dear reader because I have just such a party to tell you all about... and/or you can check out this flyer that has all the deets:
Illinois Mp3's courtesy of Ace Fu Records, thanks.
Free Mp3 ---> Illinois - Alone Again
Free Mp3 ---> Illinois - Screendoor
More info and mad content after the jump...
The Morning Benders recently did a Daytrotter session, which you should check here
You can also check out a brand new track from Kenan Bell over at Urb
Ok, so if you're not super-familiar with Austin you should know that this party is not walkable from downtown. It's on the east-side, just south of the river, relatively close to the airport. If you're staying downtown it's about a 15-20 minute bus ride or a 10 minute cab ride.
The Morning Benders - Waiting For a War video via YouTube
Did I mention the free 40's, BBQ, and fixin's? Come on, you know you're hankering for some fixin's. Or you're at least fixin' to hanker for fixin's next Friday afternoon.
Eulogies - One Man video via YouTube
All of the bands showcasing are part of the +1Music group/collective/label/y'all. Their styles are varied, so no matter what you're into, you're bound to dig at least one of the artists out at Hank Sinatra's.
Trainwreck Riders - Slow Motion Cowboy video via YouTube
Let's Wrestle - I Won't Lie To You video via YouTube
The Postelles - Hey, Little Sister video via YouTube

Ask and Ye Shall Recieve
Keep the faith and all of that dear reader for you too may score an invite to a mythical SXSW party just as I did!! That's right my pretties yours truly scored that coveted invite that I was whining about yesterday. I will be the gay dude at the Playboy party sipping Cosmos with beautiful bunnies listening to...well that part I don't really know yet. The rumor mill seems to be gesturing towards a Jane's Addiction reunion, but there are always at least 3 killer artists at the Rock the Rabbit party. I know Devo is going to be at SXSW this year, as well as P.J. Harvey but I'm thinking it's going to be someone a little dancier than the Harv. This might help you in the keeping the faith area:
The Boy Least Likely To - Faith video via YouTube
Find vids from previous artists after the jump, I'm going to bask in the afterglow for a few days :-)...
Justice - A Fifth of Beethoven (sort of) video via YouTube
Ah the chaos of a great party:
Moby - Porcelain video via YouTube
Ghostland Observatory - Piano Man video via YouTube
MGMT - The Handshake video via YouTube
Here's my future friend at last year's Playboy party getting interviewed by my future co-worker at the New York Times.

Levi's/Fader Fort RSVP Is Up
So I'm not really sure how the whole Fader Fort thing is going to work at SXSW '09. Rumor has it American Apparel has already booked the venue that was used as the Fader Fort the last couple of years. So not only is this RSVP without a line-up, it's without a venue. That is why you MUST RSVP NOW!! Get on that list soon, because they may end up getting an awesome line-up at a tiny venue. To be honest I really have no clue where this party might end up. It seems like most places would already be booked, but I'll find out within the next 8 days and let ya know.
Here's the kind of thing you might miss if you don't get on this list:
Lou Reed - Live @ theLEVI'S®/FADER FORT video via YouTube
Speaking of Mythical SXSW '09 parties, I want to get into the damn Rock the Rabbit party. It's one of those parties that has a great line-up, or at least some great bands, every year and it's "Invite Only". So I'm stalking RTR on Twitter...and trying to friend their Music editor on Facebook and Twitter. There's also a contest up re: this party over at Austinist but you shouldn't enter cause I want to win.
So much free booze...
Rock the Rabbit - C3 & Rock the Rabbit SXSW Part '08
Also, Spin usually has a kick ass party at Stubb's that is really tough to get into. I guess I should just be satisfied with the bajillionz of other options that are totally open and free and such but come on. You know you want to go more just because it's harder to get in. That's the key to throwing a good party right?
This isn't from the Spin party. It's actually just on the street, they had like a trailer set up.
